As dogs age, their nutritional needs change. Just like humans, older dogs require a balanced diet that supports their aging bodies.
Proper nutrition can help older dogs maintain a healthy weight, reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as arthritis and diabetes, improve digestion and cognitive function, and even increase energy levels.
And while commercial dog food can be a convenient option, and I’m not saying there isn’t a place for it, dog parents are more and more interested in preparing home-cooked dog food for their older dogs mainly because of concerns about dog food recalls or, in some cases, because they don't trust the quality of the ingredients in commercial dog food. Wanting to prepare meals with human-grade food for your older dog is not as complicated as some would make it out to be, and I'm going to help you with that in this podcast season.
