At Christmas we remember a series of events that took Israel by complete surprise:
God somehow took on human form and was born to a young virgin. Some recognised him as royalty, yet he was born in a stable. So-called "sinners" loved him, but the religious leaders hated him. He lived a perfect life, but was executed as a criminal. He died and was buried, but then rose from the dead!
To some, this sounds crazy - it makes no sense! But God does not think and act like we do - so we should not be surprised when he does things that make no sense to us!
When we lay down our limited wisdom and embrace God's infinite wisdom, we receive the true gift of Christmas. Our sins are forgiven, we are reconciled to God and adopted as his children!
Isaiah 55:8-9, Matthew 27:50-51
