As a play revolutionary, I believe that play can revolutionarily transform the world and all of its people. These are the words of Lois Holzman co-founder of the East Side Institute for Group and Short Term Psychotherapy. Through her work she discovered that play, performance and group creativity are the leading factors in human development and learning. In this episode of the Liminal podcast Lois shares the story of how she transformed from a developmental psychologist into a play revolutionary. She also tells the story of how she was involved in creating a school without grades and how play and performance changed the adversarial relationship between cops and inner city kids in New York city. We also explore how we can use play and improvisation to help our own personal transformation.
