#29: Your Network is Your (Business) Family | Annual Living Sportsgiving Episode
Manage episode 312335841 series 3232832
If you read the title of this podcast, it’s true, your network is your business family! The closer you are with the people that make up your business network the better your network will work for you. Many young professionals learn what networking is but they aren’t taught the correct steps and the nurturing that should be done to effectively build out their community.
Rule #1 in building your business family is similar to that of your real family...You have to be there through thick and thin... whether you need something or not. In fact, your network grows most when you AREN’T looking to get something out of a relationship... like a job, a recommendation letter, or an introduction to someone in the industry… When you give your time and an ear to listen to others, or help others, without asking for anything in return, you may not know it, but you are building trust, the core foundation to a strong network.
Today’s episode was recorded at our recent networking event in beautiful Yosemite National Park in Central California. We spent hours together outside climbing mountains, sharing laughs, and creating memories. A full weekend with limited access to wifi was okay because we were so engaged with the people we were spending time with. This podcast will walk you through our self-reflection on what we are thankful for during a year when it may be a little easier to forget how fortunate we really are.
We always refer to this time of year as Living Sportsgiving, our annual celebration within the Living Sport community commemorating our gratitude for strong connections, similar passions, and friendships made. The Yosemite trip was a perfect celebration. Now let's turn to our conversation with our Living Sport alums, Marcus, Tina, Mike, Jenna, Tre’, Caela, Karen, Sean, and Mentor Chasity...with Connor as the producer.
A warm and special shoutout to all Living Sport alumni that continue to make our community one of the truest and strongest networks you can find in the sport industry. Happy Living Sportsgiving everyone!
