About Amit Chawla:
Hello, I am Amit Chawla. I am a husband to an Estate Planning attorney (who is further studying to specialize in Special Needs law) and a dad to two boys, 7 and 13, and a dog. We live in Lexington, Massachusetts. For my full-time job, I work as a Software Product Manager for a Wealth/Investment Management software company.
My oldest son is 13 years old and has Autism. He is in a residential school. I'd like to give back to the special needs community by doing something meaningful. My goal is to help families with special needs members with planning for a better future. Ever since my son left for residential school 5 years ago, my wife and I have been busy preparing ourselves to help him in all things related to special needs planning. My wife has been focused on legal aspects and I have been focusing on financial aspects. We moderate a private Facebook group called Planning for Special Needs.
I am also the founder and owner of a financial planning company - My Special Financial Planning and I volunteer for a couple of non-profit organizations to provide pro bono financial planning services.
