About Sharlene Brunjes:

I am 70 years young and have been powerlifting for 5 years. I got into it because of a diagnosis of osteopenia and as osteoporosis can be genetic (mother and brother) I looked for ways to improve my chances and learned about resistance training for bone density health. I have been training in powerlifting now for 5 years and am currently the Canadian National champion for my age and weight class. I also participate in dragon boat racing and have competed international with my teams.
