In the post-Michael Penix Jr. era, Jedd Fisch has turned to the transfer portal and former Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers to bridge the gap between the runner-up for the 2023 Heisman Trophy and highly-touted freshman Demond Williams, who is among the best quarterbacks in SEC history and should be among the best in the Big Ten this season while competing with Ohio State's Will Howard, Penn State's Drew Allar, Oregon's Dillon Gabriel, USC's Miller Moss, and many more. Offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll is also holding open competitions for every spot along his offensive line, where four-star freshman Paki Finau could be in the mix at right guard alongside Buckeyes transfer Enokk Vimahi, while junior college transfer Maximus McCree and redshirt freshman Soane Faasolo are the main competitors at left tackle; the Huskies are also looking to bring in more offensive line help after Washington's Luau At The Lake recruiting event over the weekend and appear to be close to flipping three-star offensive tackle Zac Stascausky from Minnesota.
