And even with all that competition, it would be impossible to put together an honorary like that without including Jerry West. A man who would make a compelling case to be on the league's Mt. Rushmore, were one to be made.

He is a Hall of Famer three times over. Literally the symbol of the NBA, and one of its great ambassadors.

Jerry West died Wednesday. He was 86. The remembrances were widespread and personal, speaking to a man with great integrity and honor, who was personally caring and giving, even while struggling to find peace and happiness when it came to his own accomplishments.
