Miami Marlins lefty Braxton Garrett pitched his first career shutout to lead the Marlins past the Arizona Diamondbacks, 1-0 in their series opener in Phoenix.

Garrett, the twenty-six year-old lefty sinker baller, picked up his first win of the season, going the distance, throwing just 95 pitches, 71 for strikes, out dueling D'Backs Ace Zac Gallen.

Otto Lopez hit a two-run single in the first inning, and Jake Burger homered and scored twice for the Marlins, (18-34) who have won eight of their last eleven games.

The two teams play the middle of their three-game series tomorrow night, with Sixto Sanchez on the mound for Miami. First pitch is set for 10:10 ET.
