Elly De La Cruz and the Cincinnati Reds love playing the Miami Marlins. In four games against the fish this season, the Reds have hit 14 home runs, including four today at Loan Depot Park.

De La Cruz- the flashy and enigmatic superstar shortstop- finished 4-5 with two home runs, (20) four extra-base hits, three RBI's, three runs scored, and a career-high TWELVE total bases. The dynamic force leads the majors in stolen bases with 59.

Noelvi Marte and Ty France also homered for the Reds. France went 3-5, and Marte had two RBI's. Jonathan India added two hits and two runs scored, and Jake Fraley added two hits and two RBI's.

The Reds finished with 15 hits, eight of which went for extra bases. Every hitter in the Reds lineup reached base, and all but two had at least one hit.

Marlin-killer Nick Martinez, born in Miami, pitched five shutout innings for the Reds. Martinez came into the game with a 3-0 with a 1.23 ERA in 22 innings pitched against his hometown team.

Roddery Munoz came in pitching his best baseball of the season, but he would not last long tonight. De La Cruz smashed a two-run shot in the first inning, and it was on. Munoz lasted just 3 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits and striking out just two hitters. It's been over a month since a Marlins starter gave them a quality start. (6 IP, 3 runs or less)

Jesus Sanchez homered for the second straight game for Miami, but he would later leave the bases loaded. Xavier Edwards, Jonah Bride and Otto Lopez added two hits apiece.

The Reds are 3-1 against Miami this season. The two teams play game two of four tomorrow. First pitch is set for 6:40 pm ET.

Max Meyer (2-1, 3.81) will pitch for Miami. The Reds will send lefty Nick Lodolo (8-4, 3.99) to the bump.
