Ryan Weathers continued his dazzling array of pitching wizardry, and Jake Burger broke it open with a two-run single in the seventh inning to lead the surging Miami Marlins to a 3-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix.

Weathers went six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and striking out seven in his third straight magnificent start for Miami.

The Marlins scored all of their runs in the seventh inning. Burger broke it open with a two-run single in the seventh inning after Nick Fortes scored on a fielder's choice and a throwing error.

It was that kind of game between these two teams who have underachieved after making the playoffs last year. The D'Backs, of course, went to the World Series.

Jazz Chisholm, Jr., Bryan De La Cruz and Jesus Sanchez, each added two hits for Miami.

The Marlins' took two out of three in this series. This is their fourth straight three-game series win, pushing their record to 9-4 since they ended their five-game losing streak with a win over the Phillies on May 12th.

Arizona scored their run in the eight inning, with Corbin Carroll tripling and scoring on Lourdes Gurriel, Jr's ground out.

The Marlins are heading to San Diego for three games against the Padres. First pitch is at 6:40 pm ET, with Trevor Rogers on the mound for Miami against San Diego's Michael King.
