After a lot of offensive struggles in the early goings of the game, the Philadelphia Phillies staged a rally in the bottom of the 9th to come back and beat the San Diego Padres, 4-3.

Nick Castellanos smacked a 99mph fastball down the right field line that bounced into the stands for a game winning walk off RBI double! The hit was Casty’s 4th of the night and 6th of the series.

Going into the 9th the Phillies were just 1-8 with RISP and had left 12 men on base. They got their offense from a Brandon Marsh RBI single in the 4th and a Kyle Schwarber homer in the 8th, Schwarber’ s 17th on the year and 6th in the month of June.

In the 9th, Bryce Harper led off with a single to right field, then Harper hustled to take 3rd base when Alec Bohm followed him with another single. With runners at 1st and 3rd now and no outs, Bryson Stott plated Harper with an inside-out single to left to tie the game, setting the stage for Castellanos’ heroics.

Aaron Nola started for the Phillies and tossed 6 inning of mostly solid baseball. He entered the 6th inning at just 67 pitches and looked poised for a long outing. That’s when the Padres got to him. Louis Campusano took Nola for a 2-run homer to center and Jurickson Profar followed in the inning with an RBI single.

The Phillies bullpen of Orion Kerkering, Matt Strahm and Jeff Hoffman kept the Padres off the board the rest of the way with 3 perfect innings. Hoffman picked up with win.
