Kody Clemens came through in the CLUTCH with a bases loaded 2-out RBI single in the bottom of the 9th inning to give the Philadelphia Phillies a 2-1 walk off win over the Tampa Bay Rays!

Cristopher Sanchez got the start for the Phils and tossed 6-scoreless innings allowing just 4 hits and 1 walk. Unfortunately, while Sanchez controlled from the mound, the bats did little in the box.

The Phillies were no-hit into the 6th inning, before Kyle Schwarber blasted a 447-foot solo homer to right/center field with one out in the inning, but that was the only offense the Phils could find heading into the 9th inning. Carlos Estevez came on to close it out and gave up a crazy game tying home run to Brandon Lowe. Lowe smacked a 96mph fastball to dead center field where Johan Rojas went back, jumped, caught the ball in his mitt only to turn, hit the wall and allow the ball to fall out of his mitt and over the wall for a game-tying home run. Estevez got out of the inning after that.

More craziness came in the bottom of the 9th inning. In the box score and play-by-play summary, it will say that Bryce Harper singled to right field with one out. But what it won’t say is how Harper should have had a one-out double. Instead, Harper hit a long, low line drive to right, then stood and admired what he thought was a home run. It wasn’t. It bounced off the wall for a single. The Phillies went on to load the bases in the inning, before Kody Clemens walked it off.
