The Phillies were able to get the final offensive surge in a see-saw game to beat the Cubs, 5-3! When the game was tied at 3 in the 8th inning, Trea Turner and Alec Bohm led of the frame with back-to-back singles. After a pass ball and a Nick Castellanos pop out, there were runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1. That’s when Edmundo Sosa hit a sac fly to center field for the go ahead RBI, followed by a Whit Merrifield RBI single for a little insurance run.

Prior to the 8th inning rally, Alec Bohm hit his 11th homer of the season, a 2-run shot in the 6th inning that traveled 415ft to left center field. In the 3rd, Rafael Marchan hit his 3rd home run, a solo shot.

Zack Wheeler tossed 6innings of 2 run baseball giving up 5 hits and issuing 2 walks. However, despite the quality start, Wheeler is STILL looking for his 10th win of the season. When he left the game between the 6th and 7th innings, the Phillies led, 3-2. Matt Strahm pitched the 7th and surrendered a run on a Cody Bellinger RBI double, eliminating Wheeler’s chance at the win.
