The Red Sox returned home to Boston and opened up a 6-game homestand with the first of 3 against the Yankees Friday night.

Sox back in the win column with a 9-7 comeback win in the opener against the Yankees.

It's the Sox with their 22nd comeback win of the season. Ceddane Rafaela made it a 1-run game with a 2-run Home Run in the 7th. It was his 12th on the year and 3rd this season against the Yankees.

In the home 8th, Wilyer Abreu came off the bench with a pinch-hit Double to tie the game at 7-7 and the next hitter Masataka Yoshida came through with a 2-run Single. Kenley Jansen worked a scoreless 9th inning to close the door on the Yankees.

At The Dish:

Red Sox got a run on the board in the first on a Sacrifice Fly from Tyler O'Neill who came up with the bases loaded and one out. Does anyone swing at the first pitch in a big situation more than Tyler O'Neill? Productive out & 39th RBI for O'Neill. P.S. Red Sox still haven't hit a grand slam this season.

Sox went back in front in the 3rd inning on an RBI Double from Rafael Devers. A little 2-out magic in the 4th with Rob Refsnyder delivering an RBI Double to make it 3-1. In that 4th inning, Jaren Duran had a single to extend his hit streak to 9 in a row.

Rafaela's got 14 home runs in a season-plus in the Bigs and 5 have come against the Yankees.

Pitching:

Brayan Bello got the start against the Yankees in the opener. After getting Bello an early lead with a run in the first, he promptly gave it right back, allowing a solo Home Run to Anthony Volpe. Bello took a 3-1 lead to the mound in the top of the 5th, and he saw that lead disappear after allowing 2 more runs. Red Sox provided Bello with another lead in the bottom of the 5th with Masa Yoshida playing the go-ahead run with a Sacrifice Fly.

Bello exited after 5 innings and in-line for his 11th win. He woudn't get it. He battled on several fronts including battling himself, it appeared from time to time.

Juan Soto and Aaron Judge went 0-for-5 vs. Bello. The bottom 3 hitters in the Yankees lineup had 4 hits against the Red Sox Starter.

How frustrating is Bello to watch for you? He's hitting a 7.0 on the scale for me right now.

He should be giving up 3 or less almost every time out. He's the only pitcher in the Big Leagues with 10 or more wins and an ERA over 5.00.

Bullpen Gave It Up: Cam Booser and Josh Winckowski combined to get 3 outs in the top of the 6th inning. The Yankees had runners at 2nd and 3rd with no one out and did not score.

Zack Kelly entered with 2 out and 1 out in the 7th and on the first pitch that he threw Aaron Judge hit a 3-run Home Run to give Yankees a 6-4 lead. Next hitter Austin Wells took Kelly deep to right for a solo Home Run. Kelly threw 3 pitches, gave up 2 Home Runs and 3 runs coming out of the pen.

Bailey Horn worked a scoreless top of the 8th and was credited with the win.

Marcus Stroman and Kutter Crawford are the probable starters for Saturday. 1st Pitch- 7:15 p.m. EST.

Crawford is 2-0 in his 2 impressive outings so far this season against the Yankees.
