The Detroit Tigers fell short in a hard-fought battle against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre, losing 5-4. Justyn-Henry Malloy hit a grand slam in the top of the fifth inning to put the Tigers ahead, but the Toronto Blue Jays managed to rally back. George Springer was the star for Toronto, going 3-4 with two home runs and three RBIs, including the decisive solo blast in the bottom of the sixth that sealed the victory. Keider Montero, starting for the Tigers, pitched 5.1 innings, allowing five runs on eight hits, while Malloy's slam represented the bulk of Detroit's offense. This loss drops the Tigers to 49-50 on the season as they continue their road series.
