Gerrit Cole was dominant on the mound for the Yankees, pitching six shutout innings, allowing only four hits while striking out eight. Detroit struggled to string hits together, with Parker Meadows, Kerry Carpenter, Matt Vierling, Justyn-Henry Malloy, and Trey Sweeney each contributing a hit. Beau Brieske started for Detroit, giving up an early run, while Brant Hurter allowed two more, including solo shots from Oswald Peraza and Aaron Judge. The Tigers' bats remained silent, striking out 11 times and leaving critical opportunities on the basepaths. With the loss, Detroit's record falls to 59-63 as they look to rebound in their upcoming games.
