Tarik Skubal struck out 13 batters over seven innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits, the Tigers secured a solid victory with a final score of 5-1. Gio Urshela shined at the plate, going 3-for-4, and Zach McKinstry contributed a crucial three-run home run in the eighth inning. The Tigers generated twelve hits overall, including contributions from Colt Keith and Parker Meadows, who each knocked in critical runs. Despite a decent effort from Reds starter Graham Ashcraft, who pitched 4.2 innings and allowed one run, Cincinnati couldn't mount an offensive response. Noelvi Marte provided the Reds' lone RBI with a ground out in the seventh inning. Will Vest closed the game for the Tigers with a scoreless inning to seal the win. With Tarik Skubal’s dominance on the mound, the Detroit Tigers continue to show promise as they head into the season's midway point.
