Manage episode 425182179 series 2495587
The Detroit Tigers dominated the Chicago White Sox in an impressive MLB showdown at Comerica Park, winning 11-2 in the finale of the three game series to take the rubber match. Reese Olson was exceptional on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs with only 4 hits allowed and 3 strikeouts. The Tigers' offense was electric, starting with Colt Keith’s powerful home run in the first inning, driving in two runs. Keith continued his stellar performance, going 3-for-4 with a homer, a double, and 3 RBIs, he was just a triple shy of the Cycle, while Akil Baddoo and Riley Greene each contributed home runs, with Baddoo’s two-run shot and Greene’s three-run blast leaving the White Sox defense scrambling. Matt Vierling also added two hits and scored twice, while Zach McKinstry had a home run supporting Detroit's 13-hit onslaught. Reese Olson’s two runs allowed came in the seventh inning when he was pulled from the game after allowing the first two runners to reach, recorded an out, followed by Will Vest coming into the game to get a strikeout, but the allowed the two run single, both of which were runs charged to Reese Olson. The White Sox struggled both on the mound and at the plate, with Jonathan Cannon and Jared Shuster unable to slow down the Tigers' bats, and the lineup managing only two hits against Olson's precise pitching. Detroit Tigers win their first series after losing their last four series in MLB action against the Milwaukee Brewers, Washington Nationals, Houston Astros, and Atlanta Braves. Detroit Tigers are now 5 games back of the final American League Wild Card Spot.
