What prevents us from seeing who Jesus is in our lives? In this week’s study of Acts, as Peter addresses the crowd, we are invited to consider the the role of certainty and its impact in both the crucifixion of Jesus and the confusion surrounding miracles performed by the apostles. We are invited to metanoia: to change our minds about God, to face him in order to be true to our origins in Christ. What miracles might we miss daily because of the certainty in our expectations? Where might certainty function as a blinder that blocks us from taking steps of faith? How might certainty be hurtful in its influence? We are invited to examine our certainty in order to not miss the reality of Jesus who loved instead of punished and redeemed instead of condemned.
