Being with the darkness (the bad, the ugly), whether it's darkness out there or darkness within us, is the vital first step to shift any aspect of reality. This is what we learn from Jan Edwards who educates us on the silent crime of human trafficking. This has become a $150 billion dollar a year industry with over 300,000 children a year lured into it in the United States alone. Internationally, the numbers are in the millions.
For Jan, learning that in the 21st century people are still selling people into slavery, was a huge wake up call. For many of us, it's something that when we first learn about it, we are tempted to turn the other way and pretend we don't know about it. In this episode, we explore why that is. Jan shares with us how awareness and compassion are the two factors that make the biggest difference in working towards eradicating this reality, and how being able to grant space for and BE WITH the darkness is her super-power.
