Main Topic: The Policy how Law enforcement agencies research, develop and produce policy. A very serious topic for law enforcement sometimes handled by civilians ! yes let me repeat that again, civilians. Now here are some of the elements that a agency will use. 1. committee aspect group of command officials and subject mater experts. 2. Benchmark see what other agencies your size are doing and run with it. .3 Copy and paste the next best thing or what ever other agency policy you like. Alpha Mike, talks about he's experience in developing policy with his former agency, where ever word was placed under a microscope. Alpha talks about PowerDMS and the numbers. Why does it take so long to create a policy? Basic process should be research, development, review, and approval process. All the section should be on a time table and once completed must be presented and buy-in from the command staff. Oh and Alpha Mike reminds all on the General George Patton theory, see and be seen!
