This episode will air a few days before my birthday so I wanted to do an episode on some of the top takeaways and life lessons I gained from year 33 that I thought would help other mamas too. This has been a big year for us. We moved cross country, I changed careers, started my podcast, and all while raising a daughter from year 1 to 2. If you have kids you know A LOT of growth happens in years 1 -2 so it’s been an interesting journey.

I have really come to realize that as our kids are growing and developing and evolving, so are we. We have just as much growth as them and that is pretty incredible. So year 33 really taught me:

  1. That it is okay to make life choices that don’t make sense to other people. We need to stop putting so much energy into rationalizing it or explaining our choices because we are the only ones that know our intuition and internal GPS. So make your choices, embrace them, and live your life the way that feels right for you. There is no trophy at the end of life for the people who lived the ‘best’ life or closest to the ‘right’ way. The right way is the way that makes you feel alive and happy.
  2. Boundaries are hard as s*^t to set, but so freaking important. I am pretty terrible at them, but this year really taught me that it is OKAY to set boundaries, with anyone even family, to protect your mindset, your energy, and your life. Family is not a free pass for dragging you down or mistreating you.
  3. It is okay to sometimes spend money on things that don’t have a huge monetary ROI or practical life ROI. Sometimes you need to spend money on the memories, the experiences, or the gambles and that is okay! You never know what you may get from those chances.
  4. Relationships have seasons and some wilt and never bloom again, but others will bloom. They can find their way back. The puzzle pieces can fit together again. Sometimes you have to grow as individuals first and then rebuild together. It can be hard not knowing, but never give hope if a relationship is important enough.
  5. We can do hard things. Mama, you are SUPERHERO. You do hard things all the time and no matter what mountain you’re climbing right now you can do it. It might feel awful, but you are incredibly powerful and resilient.
  6. Wear the dang bikini. Be in the experiences. Love your body, imperfections and all because that body has done some incredible things and will continue to do incredible things. It is special and deserves to be loved and celebrated no matter the state it is in.
