  • The experience of suffering a widowmaker heart attack during a half Ironman triathlon and the important lesson learned about fitness not equaling health
  • The decision to continue his triathlon career after the heart attack with the support of his wife and doctor

  • Dedication, training, and the right support system are essential for succeeding as a professional triathlete, as demonstrated by Timothy O'Donnell's journey from competitive swimmer to leading the Naval Academy men's triathlon team to two national championships.
  • A serious health event, such as a heart attack, can serve as a wake-up call to prioritize health and understand that fitness doesn't always equal overall health.
  • Taking ownership of your health involves being proactive, finding the right doctors and specialists, and investing in tools like biomarker tracking and advanced heart scans to monitor and prevent potential issues.
  • Achieving peak performance requires investing in yourself through body maintenance, coaching, and being willing to fully expose yourself to reach your potential.
  • Transitioning from one career to another, such as from professional sports to real estate investing, requires having the right team, being willing to take chances, and leveraging the skills and mindset developed in your previous career.

"The biggest thing is you can't ever give up. Even if you're in last place, even if you're having the worst day, just keep moving forward, just keep making progress.” — Timothy O'Donnell
