Welcome to Episode 58- A Deeper Dive into the Axeman of New Orleans.
In this Episode Before the term serial killer was known in the 19th Century an unknown man wielding an axe was attacking many Italian American Immigrant families in New Orleans. His victims were Grocery store Owners. I know Ryan and I talked about the Axeman on New Orleans in the French Quarters. The French Quarters housed many Sicilian and Italian Immigrants. I wanted to give the entire research a deep dive, a closer look. Keep in mind the motive was never robbery, and he used the victim's own Axe from the scene of the crime. Many speculations on who the Axeman was created many theories. One theory is that the Axeman was Supernatural. Suspects are interviewed, tried, and let go because of the lack of Evidence. The investigation was handed over to the new Chief of Police Frank Mooney. He desperately tried to catch the Axeman and put an end to this investigation. Can Frank Mooney deliver this serial killer for the last time? Can Frank Mooney bring justice and tranquility to New Orleans? I unpack the prevailing theories and suspects. The theories were also about the Axeman wanting to harm the women. The husbands just stood in his way of the object of his affections, and the motive behind his attacks were directed at women. Was this crime purely hatred motivated? An ethnic cleanse riddled with Xenophobia against the Italian community? You can help solve the mystery.
