In the wake of the California wild fires, Reverend Kat talks to the heart about loss and reminds us of Spirit.
Before the fire, Curtis, (Kat’s husband) lost his job. It was a financial hit and a “game changer” for the family. Always looking forward, they began to regroup and plan. Then the wild fires hit Ventura County. After 5 days of fleeing the fire, they returned home. Their house and the town of Ojai had been miraculously saved!
Grateful, they began to settle in. But, their house smelled like smoke, there was still fire in the hills, the smoke in the air was so thick they couldn’t see through it.
The awareness of the losses surfaced – People were advised to stay home, wear masks, and buy air filters. Familiar places that they depended on were destroyed or altered like the Botanical Garden and bike trails – and again, Curtis had lost his job.
Kat broke down under the stress and reached a point of hopelessness.
It was in that moment, that she was reminded of Spirit. Even though her heart was broken and she felt alone, she could open up to Spirit.

I began my career as a Spiritual Leader when I was 7 years old. Sitting in the field beside my house one day, I asked God why some people were so unhappy. A real voice answered (no kidding),“Your job on this earth is to teach people about love and how to have what they want in life”.
