After King David had become King, he enlarged the prayer of this event into a psalm with a new first-line: "I love You Lord!" 'Love' was not the usual emotion expressed in pagan worship of their 'gods'. This Psalm commences as a personal testimony ("I" and "me") and breaks out into praise of God with "He" and "His". Psalm 18 is also a 'martial' Psalm with several military references (vss 34, 35, 39).
