Although not well known at the time, Universal was the first record company in Michigan and Author/Musician/DJ Craig Maki has just released his second book, detailing all about it. Titled Tomorrow Brings Memories--Michigan's First Underground Record Company, Maki explores a selection of music which became a jukebox phenomenon in the heyday of the burgeoning state. Maki's previous book, Detroit Country Music--Mountaineers, Cowboys and Rockabillies put him on the map as far as a detailed account of the early days of country and western in Michigan. A rockabilly performer himself, Maki continues to research, perform, and discuss his specific findings as often as possible.
