Sweet corn is on the way according to Scott Skelly, 6th generation farmer at Skelly's Farm Market in Janesville. He gives Stephanie Hoff a growing season update.
Bill MacFarlane saw his business model literally blow up, after a F2 tornado hit his pheasant operation directly. 4 of MacFarlane's 15,000 square foot barns were tattered. More than 100,000 birds were suddenly loose, and feeding systems were compromised. He tells Pam Jahnke that they've made a pretty quick recovery given everything that happened and are poised to serve all their customers as if nothing happened.
John Heinberg, market advisor with Total Farm Marketing, recaps the most recent USDA Prospective Planting report. He says it's not about what's in the ground, it's about what's in the bins. He also notes that Wisconsin's currently got some of the worst crop ratings in the U.S. for corn, and especially soybeans.
