Mighty Networks' Audra Lindsay interviews Mighty Hosts Lindsay Marie Stewart and Laurie McConnell about how and why they launched The Call, a Mighty Network created specifically for people who are passionate about advocating for the conservation of British Columbia’s wolf population. They shared: *The specific steps they took leading up to their launch, including surveying their audience, tapping into supporters and influencers, and how they created an engaging brand designed to tie their community directly to their advocacy tools. *The strategies they used at launch to successfully reach over 1.2k members in less than six weeks! *What they're learning today about how to engage their members more deeply, kick off new conversations, and inspire action. About Lindsay Lindsay Marie Stewart is Pacific Wild’s Creative Director. An award-winning filmmaker with over 10 years experience in journalism and documentary work, Lindsay is a National Geographic Explorer, the founder of the Natural Connections Project and a member of the New York Explorers Club. Inspired by stories from around the world, she has studied in India and China, worked in Tajikistan, and traveled to over 30 countries. Lindsay holds a Masters of Arts degree in Intercultural and International Communication, a B.A. in Professional Communication, a Photojournalism Diploma and Technical Writing Certificate. From working with pop-star Miley Cyrus to advocate for coastal grizzlies, to directing a film series honoring the life-giving forces of the Pacific ocean along Canada’s Great Bear Rainforest, Lindsay extends her public engagement experience into wildlife protection work and conservation issues in B.C. with Pacific Wild. About Laurie Laurie McConnell is the 'Systems Wrangler' and Community Outreach specialist at Pacific Wild. A self-taught technical / systems manager, Laurie ran a regionally-based online community and web business for 20 years before coming to Pacific Wild. She sees her role as auditing systems, automating processes to free up staff time, and ensuring all software, platforms and tools positively impact donor stewardship and the ability of Pacific Wild staffers to do their jobs most efficiently and effectively to achieve campaign goals. Donor segmentation and engagement for increased activism on key campaigns brought her attention to Mighty Networks as a tool for Pacific Wild's development goals in 2019. More About The Call Pacific Wild created The Call: Save B.C. Wolves to nurture, gather and galvanize our most ardent wolf-loving supporters in a way that’s focused and valuable. We are building this community together with our supporters, while providing regular news updates on the B.C. government wolf kill program, inspiring people with exclusive videos and photos, and arming them with petitions and off-line tools to utilize on their own and in public consultation periods. The Call is a sub-branded community advocacy program for wolf advocates to meet — there is no cost to join to swap stories, experiences, and ideas around our shared mission to #SaveBCWolves.
