This week, LINK nky CEO Lacy Starling and Business Reporter Kenton Hornbeck talk about the Women-owned business crawl this past Sunday. Created by Aviatra Accelerators, this event highlighted 40 business owners and was an open invitation for people to come out, shop, sip and learn more about Covington's businesses like Grainwell, Peachy and Vintage, Arden and Gold, Second Story and many more.
Then, Lacy chats with Catrena Bowman, Executive Director of the Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission and owner of Inspired Fashion, a clothing boutique in Covington. Catrena talks about her experience as a transplant in NKY from Lexington, the work she does at NKCAC, her passion for fashion, and how the pandemic led to her opening an online clothing boutique that turned into a brick and mortar shop in just two years. From economic stability programs like head start to senior services and overcoming barriers to become successful, Catrena discusses how NKCAC is partnering with others to make the NKY community a even greater place.
On the fashion side of things, Catrena talks about her start in the fashion space and offering individual style sessions while working towards her boutique and why she chose Covington due to its incentives for small businesses and grant programs. Catrena talks about her boutique successes and challenges and how focusing on multi-dimensional colors and being size inclusive, from sizes 2 to 22, helps to boost women's confidence.
