When I think of the palette knife, it sends a shiver down my spine. My anxiety spikes, and I immediately transport back to the days of insecurity and ignorance. It gives me a more comprehensive appreciation for the work of Mississippi artists like Denise Hopkins.
I often reference her birds series whenever asked about the tools of her trade and the thriving live wedding painting business she has developed when they ask about possibilities.
This week Denise shares her story with us about growing up with little art in her childhood to opening her very own gallery in Pass Christian, Mississippi.
