Alex Mapar is an NYC based, Australian director, illustrator and animator. He’s represented by &Reach/Satellite Office for illustration, is a mentor for Mograph Mentor and was an ADC Young Gun in 2011.
He’s all-around one of my favorite artists currently working and it was an honor to have him on the podcast.
(A peak into his office)
He has created works for many of the world’s biggest brands in collaboration with some of the world’s best agencies.
Here is a spot he helped lead as Art and Animation Director at Buck for Walmart.
In this interview (which is running about 54 minutes long) we talk about his journey into Motion Design, when the industry was really just beggining. We talk about his inpiration and how he developed as an artist.
We wrap up with general advice for young artists and his take on the MoGraph Mentor program.
