Debashis Bhattacharya is a portfolio manager in the U.S. Fixed Income and Structured Credit Team of Fortis Investments. He joined Fortis in June 2006. Before joining Fortis, Mr. Bhattacharya worked as a CMO Trader at RBS Greenwich Capital and Barclays Capital. He structured and traded fixed-rate agency and non-agency CMOs. His focus was non-agency CMOs, especially the Alternative-A sector. Between new issue and secondary bonds he traded north of $5bn bonds. Prior to that, he worked at Salomon Brothers/Citigroup in mortgage research. He was responsible for quantitative prepayment modeling and strategy for the adjustable-rate mortgage sector. He also worked on the mortgage index and portfolio analysis. Before that, he worked with Citibank N.A. in Singapore and Bombay in their consumer services group. Mr. Bhattacharya has 16 years of industry experience; he holds a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, an M.S. in Engineering-Economics from Stanford University and an M.B.A from University of Chicago. Sanjay Nayar spent two years at Schroders Credit Renaissance investing in distressed companies internationally, as well as private equity with an India focus. Prior to that, he was at Harvest Management for almost five years and was one of the two co-founders of their distressed debt group. Harvest Management was founded in 1993 by J. Morgan Rutman (one of the founding partners of Farallon Capital Management) specializing in merger arbitrage. Prior to Harvest, Mr. Nayar worked in the distressed debt research departments of ING Barings, and Schroder & Company. Mr. Nayar has a BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania (1996), and is a CFA charter holder. Mr. Nayar has remained an avid squash player since playing varsity in college.
