Budget 2024 introduced several changes for individual taxpayers. It liberalized tax slabs and rates, increased the standard deduction limit to Rs 75,000 under the new concessional tax regime, and raised the deduction limit for employers' contributions to the National Pension System (NPS) from 10% to 14%, also under the new regime. Additionally, a new NPS Vaatsalya plan was announced for parents and guardians saving for their children’s future. Preeti Kulkarni from Moneycontrol discussed these changes with Sriram Iyer, CEO of HDFC Pension Management Company.
