Hey surfers! Let's catch a wave with the latest surf zone forecast for New York, brought to you by the National Weather Service!
For Kings (Brooklyn) including Coney Island Beach and Manhattan Beach:
Tuesday brings a high risk of rip currents with surf heights of 5 to 7 feet, under cloudy skies with a chance of rain. The surf temp will be in the upper 60s. Expect a high temperature in the lower 60s with brisk northeast winds around 20 mph.
Wednesday maintains a high rip current risk with slightly lower surf heights of 4 to 6 feet under mostly sunny conditions. The high will be in the mid 60s with northeastern winds at 10 to 15 mph.
Looking ahead, expect similar conditions on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with some chances of showers and highs ranging from the mid 60s to around 70 degrees, accompanied by breezy winds.
Remember, always stay safe near the water, especially with the high rip current risk in effect. If you hit the surf, keep a floatation device handy and swim near a lifeguard.
For those in Southern Queens and Southern Nassau, and Southwestern Suffolk and Southeastern Suffolk, similar conditions apply with high rip current risks and varying surf heights. Stay tuned for similar weather patterns and keep an eye on those tides!
Be sure to check out the UV Index definitions and essential beach safety tips at the provided link.
Enjoy the surf, stay safe, and see you back on the waves in 2024! Hang ten, beachgoers!
