Hey there Surfers and Beachgoers! Grab your boards and sunscreen because we've got the lowdown on the surf zone forecast for New York!
Starting off with Kings (Brooklyn), we're looking at around 2 feet of surf height today with a moderate rip current risk and a very high UV Index**. The water temperature is in the mid-60s with a mostly sunny sky and highs in the mid-70s. Winds coming from the east at 5 to 10 mph. So get out there early as high tide hits Coney Island at 6:31 AM!
Moving on to Southern Queens, expect similar conditions with a moderate rip current risk, highs in the lower 70s, and east winds around 10 mph. The surf temperature is around 60 degrees, and the sun will be peeking out in a partly sunny sky.
Now, for Southern Nassau, the story remains the same with a moderate rip current risk, lower 70s for highs, and easterly winds at 10 mph. UV Index** is still very high, so don't forget your sunscreen. Jones Inlet will see high tide at 6:15 AM. Perfect timing for an early morning session!
Heading to Southwestern Suffolk, the surf height is around 2 feet with a moderate rip current risk and a toasty upper 50s surf temperature. Expect lower 70s for highs, a partly sunny day, and east winds at 10 mph. Keep an eye out for the low tide at Fire Island Inlet at 12:14 PM.
Wrapping up with Southeastern Suffolk, we're looking at a moderate rip current risk, surf temperature in the upper 50s, and east winds around 5 mph. Enjoy the mostly sunny weather with highs in the lower 70s and high tide at Shinnecock Inlet around 6:16 AM.
Remember, always check in with the local beach patrols before hitting the waves and stay safe out there! And don't forget your flotation device just in case. Have a gnarly time catching those waves!
