Duration :24 minutes

We're back in the Bottle Bunker lock-up with Olly Langmead for a really fun exploration of Glengoyne whiskies - with a bit of food on the side.

Whisky collector and enthusiast Olly brought his 15yo Distiller's Gold export edition to our Glengoyne tasting in his Bottle Bunker whisky store. I took along a 12yo purchased at the distillery with the distillery special Teapot Dram, and the flagship 15yo which was fascinating to taste against the export edition of the same age. The whisky family genes were apparent throughout the tasting!

We also talked wild duck, trout and venison recipes and tasted some 85% cocoa solids chocolate with the Teapot Dram. A very pleasant way to spend a wet August afternoon.

The Glengoyne distillery, established in 1833, is at Dumgoyne, near Killearn, Glasgow. It is very close the West Highland Way and to Loch Lomond. Glengoyne means the Glen of the Wild Geese - no wonder Olly and I were talking about game so much as we were tasting - and the distillery is partnered with the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust in developing an environmentally-friendly waste management system ensuring the area around the distillery is a haven for wild life and warrants its name. Glengoyne are keen on food and whisky matching and are have been featured by my friends at Dragonfly Teas in their Brewed with a View publication - I'll be tasting the whiskies with their teas very soon to find the perfect match. Will it be the Teapot Dram? Too obvious?

Glengoyne is part of Ian Macleod Distillers, a third generation family owned independent business.

You can buy Glengoyne online through the distillery here or from The Whisky Exchange here.
