I couldn’t be more excited to share episode 39 with the listeners this week as I had the honor and privilege to chat with Birds on a Wire founder and creator, Karen Stubbs. I met Karen several months ago at a coffee shop with a few other friends of mine in a local moms group. Karen spoke to us to encourage us for the upcoming year and shed some light on what she does and how her ministry is built to encourage moms. As soon as she started speaking, I heard her story, knew there was something special about her, and wanted to invite her as a guest on The More Than Your Age Podcast. Karen Stubb’s story of how she began speaking to thousands upon thousands of women, specifically moms, and writing books and curriculum with zero formal training and experience after staying home for roughly 20 years, is highly encouraging and humbling as well. I can’t wait for you to listen to Karen’s story on how she got to where she is, and the steps along the way that took her to get there.

If you’ve asked these questions before:

“Can God really use me?”

“Can I start a business after being a stay at home mom?”

“Is it too late?”

“How can I use the skills and passions God has given me?”

“Is there purpose in the waiting?”

THIS is the episode for you!

Questions we discussed:

-With your husband gone often, what were practical tools that you had to use every day to get through the really tough days?

-Was there ever any type of resentment towards your husband being gone?

-Did you have a desire to pursue any type of work outside the home?

-You met a woman who prophesied over your life at one point. What did she tell you? What did you think of the news she shared?

-While working at this church, you discover a big need for young moms. What was the need, and why was it so important?

-When you first started meeting with women in your basement, when and why did you start thinking this could or needed to be bigger than just a weekly small group?

-Why is Birds on a Wire such an important ministry, and what is it that you love about this work?

-What have you had to tell yourself when you’ve experienced moments of inadequacy?

- What would you say to the listener (mom or not) who feels called to pursue something, but has encountered negative responses from people they trust or work with?

-If you could encourage 1 woman who feels blocked or limited to pursue a dream or goal based on her age or life circumstance, what would you tell her?
