Listen to a @MriyaReport conversation with our very special guest David Kirichenko (@DVKirichenko). David is a Ukrainian-American freelance journalist and Associate Research Fellow at the Henry Jackson Society.

In the interview, David Kirichenko, a Ukrainian-American with deep familial ties to Ukraine, shares his personal history and discusses the significant impact of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. He describes his family's background as Ukrainian refugees and the persecution they faced under Soviet rule, emphasizing how these experiences shaped his commitment to supporting Ukraine.

David mentions his work during the war, including translating for refugees and helping with evacuations. His first-hand accounts of the conflict, especially his time spent with Ukrainian soldiers on the frontlines, underscore the devastating human cost of the war. He describes the resilience and determination of the brave Ukrainian people and their gratitude for the help received, but he also conveys the deep sense of betrayal felt by some soldiers due to the West's inadequate support.

The West's handling of the conflict, particularly the hesitancy of U.S. policymakers to fully support Ukraine, can be attributed to a misunderstanding of Russia's imperial ambitions. The lack of decisive action and sufficient military aid has led to unnecessary Ukrainian casualties and the prolonging of the war, ultimately increasing the risk of a larger conflict in the future. Despite these challenges, David remains hopeful that continued advocacy and education can shift Western policies to provide the support Ukraine desperately needs to defend itself and secure a lasting peace not only for itself but for all of Europe and potentially beyond.

An absolute must-listen! Don’t miss out. Support the brave fight of the Ukrainian people against the evil aggression of russia.
