The BMC warned citizens and business owners not to use the banned plastic, and any person found using such items will be prosecuted. A BMC official said that producers, stockists, suppliers, and sellers who violate this notification will be liable to pay Rs 5000 for the first offense and Rs 25,000 and three-month imprisonment for each subsequent offense.
