55th Anniversary Year in Review: 1967
Manage episode 347141665 series 3390098
For their 55th show, Gary & Brian go back 55 years to review the musically insane year of 1967. Imagine multiple waves of the British invasion mixed in with San Francisco's psychedelic rock movement and the folk, soul and blues melting pot of Los Angeles at the same time. Arguably, every seed of influential popular music for the next five decades was planted or started to bloom in 1967.
Artists covered: The Grateful Dead, The Beatles (2 albums), Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape, Jimi Hendrix (2 albums), The Byrds, The Doors (2 albums) and Buffalo Springfield. Our honorable mention list is so long we decided not to mention them all in the show. Yes, there was that much great music made this year.
In our encores, Brian provides a review of a recent Mickey Dolenz of The Monkees fame show and Gary celebrates the music of legend Jerry Lee Lewis who we lost on October 28th. Enjoy!
