In classic Offspring fashion, Dexter Holland and Noodles are back with Supercharged, their latest dose of high-octane punk rock, and they’re not slowing down. Fresh off the heels of their last album, Let the Bad Times Roll, the band wasted no time jumping back into the studio. As the two explain to Kyle Meredith, the pandemic took them off the road, but it also fired up their creativity, leading to a record that’s tight, fast, and brimming with the band’s signature energy. With recording sessions spanning Maui, Vancouver, and Huntington Beach, Supercharged effortlessly fuses everything from laid-back vibes to thrash metal fury. “Come to Brazil,” is a tongue-in-cheek love letter to their rabid Brazilian fanbase, while “You Can’t Get There From Here” taps into Dexter’s knack for channeling self-doubt into epic, sing-along poetry. In between recording, they also found themselves sharing the stage with legends like Brian May, in what Dexter describes as a mind-blowing jam session, and younger stars like Ed Sheeran and Yungblud, who bring a fresh burst of energy and inspiration to their performances. With 40 years as a band, 30 years of the breakthrough Smash, and a new record under their belts, The Offspring proves once again they’re here to break down the punk-rock rulebook and rewrite it on their own terms.
