On Episode #39 of the MVRed Podcast, we are joined by Ohio State Representative Riordan McClain (R - 87th District) on House Bill 11, Ohio's Backpack Bill Legislation. State Representative McClain discussed his legislation working its way through the committee level and how it differs from the Senate legislation (Senate Bill 11) which is sponsored by Trumbull County State Senator Sandra O'Brien (R - 32nd District). Riordan talked through how this Educational Savings Account model would work and how it differs from Ohio's existing Ed Choice Scholarship Program. He shared his thoughts on why there is so much momentum for School Choice across the United States and why it is important for supporters of this legislation to contact their Legislators to support this bill when it comes up for a vote. Riordan also offered his response to arguments against the legislation, such as oversight of private/charter/parochial schools who would be eligible to receive the funds, as well as the cost of the legislation. Thank you to Riordan McClain for joining our podcast! Be sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and share our podcast! #SchoolChoice
