Signed to Universal Music Group India and supported by Island Records UK, Ananya is India’s first artist to go platinum singing in English. Since taking up the classical at eleven, Ananya has lived for music. It wasn’t long before she started writing her own material and, wanting to follow the paths of many of her musical idols, taught herself the guitar. This understanding of both Indian and western music is the basis for the unique style she is known for today.Ananya left home for Oxford University 17, and soon established herself as a regular on London’s music scene, travelling for gigs and open-mic nights almost every weekend. She soon realized that nothing made her feel more fulfilled, and left university with a burning desire to turn her passion into something more.
