Maanav shares how he realized the amount of money they spent going out could have been saved to own a bar. He discusses the lack of oversight in restaurants to identify high spenders and proposes a solution using QR codes (this is back in 2017 - way before the pandemic).
Inspired by technology newsletters while sailing, Maanav receives a pitch deck from his friends and decides to start a business. They initially focus on digitizing restaurant orders but struggle with product-market fit. They pivot to digitizing invoices on WhatsApp, which gains traction until WhatsApp's policy changes disrupt their business. Maanav contemplates stepping down but expresses gratitude to his team and investors.🤗
