In this episode, we will be talking about the perception of beauty and what it means to us especially in regards to how we style our hair. This topic may come as a shock since I am a former crochet and box braid wearing girl who eventually got dreadlocks, but I want to reflect on the subtle false perceptions that psychologically affect women. Growing up in a home where natural beauty and hair braiding is celebrated, I learned even then that embracing your beauty no matter the clothes or hairstyles is what truly matters. However, with the rise of natural hair prejudices, many of us feel the need to alter our true hair textures with weaves, perm, and other harmful methods. To be honest, most of the time using these hairstyle methods is for the sake of looking SNATCHED, but then you have the other side of using this opportunity to change one's appearance as a way to mask who we truly are on the inside.

This is not the case for everyone but if we don't talk about our reasoning and embracing the natural mane when the protective styles are out then who will?
