During the 1930s Depression, America made heroes of outlaws who took what they wanted at gunpoint. John Dillinger came to evoke this Gangster Era and stirred mass emotion to a degree rarely seen in this country. He operated with a group of men known as the "Dillinger Gang", which was accused of robbing 24 banks and four police stations, among other activities, including many escapes from jail. Dillinger was killed by federal agents outside the Biograph Theater on the night of July 22, 1934. Many people still believe it wasn't him that was killed that night. Did Dillinger pull off one last great escape?
