In 1999 I got admitted into the Transitional Year Program at the University of Toronto. That year was a life-changing time for me. The program was started years ago by two individuals who saw the disadvantage immigrants, blacks and indigenous people, and the LGBTQ faced when it comes to access to quality education. The University of Toronto was one such elite school that poor and disadvantaged individuals did not get a chance to attend. Karen Braithwaite seeing this social inequity decided to do something about it. That she did. With the help of another individual Horace, the first set of black students was readied for university. I am a product of a dream, a goal and a vision. The two individuals recently passed. I made this video to celebrate their impact on the lives of countless individuals.
