City of Stars
Manage episode 373511100 series 3334627
“Stars” has a connection to a Negro Leagues team that played in Nashville for a short time years ago. Today, a Major League team by that name has tremendous support from stars in the entertainment and baseball communities in Music City in hopes of professional baseball here at the highest level.
There was another opportunity for a Nashville baseball team to be named “Stars” in the not-too-distant past, and in this episode, I tell about how it almost made it's way to the hearts of fans in our fair city.
I hope you will listen as I also pay tribute to everyone’s favorite paste and friend, Father Charles Stroebel. He was founder of Room in the Inn and was a servant like no other. He loved baseball, too, and once told me about walking to Sulphur Dell to watch the Vols. Rest in Peace, Charlie.
